From May
15-16 2024, partners of the SMALEI – Sustainability Matrix for Adult Learning and
Education Institutions – Erasmus+ project met at the headquarters of TKNIKA,
San Sebastian for the third Partners’ Meeting. TKNIKA is the Basque VET Applied
Research Centre, working in bio-sustainable processes as one of its priorities.
The meeting began with a sensorial experience prepared
by students at TKNIKA in sustainability, with a 360-degree immersion to awaken
the senses and evoke a personal reaction to climate change. Following this,
partners visited the centre and learnt about their experimental and innovative
practices, including aquaponics and applied research in the circular food economy.
Over the
two days, partners discussed the finalisation of the online self-assessment
tool, handbook and guidebook that will accompany the digital matrix. The tool
will serve as a way for adult learning institutions to assess and improve their
sustainability. Other topics discussed included the launching of the SMALEI
Academy in November 2024 and the continued implementation piloting from partners.
Within the
TKNIKA centre, partners were able to delve further into the last stages of the
project and left inspired and with a renewed motivation to complete the results
to a high quality.
